MOBY-DICK, Page 278

Title: The red tide now poured from all sides of the monster like brooks down a hill. His tormented body rolled not in brine but in blood, which bubbled and seethed for furlongs behind in their wake. The slanting sun playing upon this crimson pond in the sea, sent back its reflection into every face, so that they all glowed to each other like red men.

  1. To the kind anonymous person who pointed out that this post had the wrong URL, thank you very much. When I first put up the post, I initially gave it the wrong page number (288) in the blog title, hence the wrong URL. I had to delete that post and re-post it here, that was the only way I could fix the URL. Thanks for catching that little detail before it became a bigger annoyance!

  3. Thank you Lizzy, that pleases me very much. Working this loosely and abstractly has been a real challenge for me, but it is something I feel very drawn to. Sometimes I am not sure how successful I am, but I did really like this piece when it was completed. I don't use the number of comments on a piece as any barometer of success, but I do sometimes wonder why some illustrations seem to garner 5 or 6 comments while others get none, so there was a part of me that really did start to feel like this piece was a bit of a failure. I am glad it resonates with some viewers though, and it reaffirms my own feelings about it.
